MEMO TO ALL BUFA MEMBERS
ASSIGNMENT OF PICKET SHIFTS

October 8, 2011

Thank you all for sending in your surveys on time and responding so well to my requests for volunteers for the first and last shifts.

Every effort was made to take your preferences into account but an attempt at numerical balance in the number of pickets per shift was also taken into account. Shift 3 was far and away the most popular and I apologize to those of you that could not be accommodated at that time.

IMPORTANT POINTS

This is not in any way meant to indicate whether a strike will called or not. This is preparation for that possibility that is all.

If you do not see your name on this list please chose a shift other than number three (1100-1230), bearing in mind that you must walk two shifts per day, and present yourself to your Picket Captain, Patrick Jackson, at the Park Community Centre on the first day of the strike and he will sign you in and assign you to an ongoing shift schedule.

If you cannot walk a shift that is listed on the Picket Shift Master Schedule it is your responsibility to contact the Picket Captain, Patrick Jackson at Jaxon@Jaxon.org to arrange an alternate time.

If you see your name under the heading “Headquarters Staff” it means that you indicated on the survey that you had a valid reason for opting not to walk the picket line. You still have shift assignments but you will be assisting in the maintenance and operation of the Park Community Centre as our headquarters and the Support Service snack supplies. SS stands for Shift Supervisor.

Winnipeg BUFA members will be contacted separately regarding their picket duties.

Thank you for your patience. Some of you may find the next week stressful. I urge you to direct any strike related questions to your area reps. Any shift related questions should be directed to Picket Captain, Patrick Jackson at Jaxon@Jaxon.org I will be assisting Norm Finlay and others in the set up of our headquarters.

If the strike happens proceed to the Park Community Centre (Louise and 15th) 10 minutes before the start of your first shift. Sign in. Walk the line for your shift. Sign out. Rest and repeat.

One foot in front of the other, we will do this if we have to.

CHAIR STRIKE ACTION COMMITTEE
