Sessional BUFA Instructors and Strike Pay

At its meeting on September 26, 2008), 
the BUFA Executive approved the following policy for BUFA members on sessional contracts:

Sessional instructors who are 
(a) BUFA members, who are 
(b) contracted to teach three credit hours or more, and who 
(c) perform picket duties will receive daily strike pay of $30.

EXTERNAL SESSIONAL MEMBERS OF BUFA WHO HAVE SIGNED 
MEMBERSHIP CARDS AND CURRENTLY ON CONTRACT

SUBJECT:  Third Call for Nominations or Volunteers:
Sessional Representative on the BUFA Executive for 2007/08 Academic Year

At the BUFA General Meeting held on April 29, 1999, the following motion was passed:
THAT the BUFA Constitution be amended to include Executive representation from the Sessional Instructors.

It was agreed that representation would run from September 1 to August 31 of each year

Nominations, or volunteers, are being solicited from the signed-up BUFA members of your constituency who are currently on contract with Brandon University, and may be made on the form below, detached, and sent to the BUFA Office. These members are:

- Richard Bruce, Justice Studies
-  George Buri, Department of History 
- Peter Hordern, Department of Religion
- Reg Horne – Department of Geography
- William Johnston, Department of Business Administration
- Lawrence Jones, School of Music 
- Andrew Lane,  Business Administration
- Gary McNeely, Department of English
- Karen Narduzzie,  Psychiatric Nursing 
- Jane Scott, Department of English
- Susan Tsukamoto, Department of English
- May Yoh, Department of Philosophy

If more than one nomination or volunteer is received, an election will be conducted by mail ballot. Only External Sessional instructors who have signed a BUFA membership card and are currently on contract will be canvassed for an election. The nominee/volunteer who receives the second highest number of votes will serve as Alternate.

***PLEASE NOTE:  If you are aware of an External Sessional Instructor not listed above who has not yet signed a membership card but would be willing to serve on the Executive, he/she would be eligible to serve once a card has been signed. Please have this member contact the BUFA Office, Ext. 347.***
