Monday Morning Report October 6, 2008 The negotiators continued to meet through the weekend. Saturday's session was long and unproductive (see "Lamont Stonewalls"). At the end of Sunday's session, BUFA negotiators presented the employer with a proposal that was not flatly and immediately rejected (a departure from the employer's general negotiating style). Meetings are to resume Monday morning. The employer's response to the BUFA proposal will likely signal whether progress is being made, or whether BUFA members need to anticipate extended daily exercise on the picket lines. Stay tuned. Stay resolute. As much as we would like to return to our classrooms, there is no point doing so under the rotten conditions the employer has been proposing so far. We will prevail. |
